I know that some laptops had a problem with NT, but in general I would avoid 95/98 and go to NT if I could. We had numerous problems with Client Access vs. 95 that pretty much vaporized when we went to NT. Peace. I probably overstated the number of times that I personally reboot. Probably at most 3 to 4 times a week. However, being in the middle of the company's operations I see this being done quite a bit to "resolve" problems. I have Windows 98 on a Gateway laptop. TCP/IP applications throughout. Ops Nav locks up periodically, however I don't use it that often. It is a good to have, but not a need to have (at least not right now) software. -----Original Message----- From: Rob Berendt [mailto:rob@dekko.com] Sent: Monday, July 31, 2000 10:10 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: Just whining about Windows, Was: Is Ops Navigator slow for others too? I am curious. Which version of Windows are you running? 3.1, 95, 98, NT, 2000? I am running NT. I reboot every Friday when I leave. (Gotta leave the computer running so ADSM backups can run.) Also, on occasion Word, or Notes R504 will die. (Oh, and Notes knows the last death was abnormal and insists you reboot the PC.) But not several times a day. If they don't mind everyone having to reboot every 5 minutes just to do AS/400 work through Ops Nav, then they should not have any problems. Another example of them trying to Windowize their systems to get new people interested in the AS/400. Frankly, I am glad that I don't have to "reboot" my AS/400 3 times a day. -----Original Message----- From: Quazy [mailto:quazy@SoftHome.net] Sent: Monday, July 31, 2000 8:53 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Is Ops Navigator slow for others too? Well I have some bad news for you if you don't like Ops Nav. I heard rumors when I was in Rochester a month ago, They said that by V5R1 every thing will be in Ops navigator and from then on out no updates would be done to green screens. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Brendan Bispham" <midrangel@black-and-blue.com> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Monday, July 31, 2000 3:05 AM Subject: RE: Is Ops Navigator slow for others too? > > > Now then, What percentage of AS/400 shops have Windows as their Company's > > PC platform ? > > What percentage of AS/400's had X-Windows ? > > > > Ok, I guess Windows wins. > > > What percentage had OS400? > > So why make a decision to put SOCKS config on windows only? > > Leave OpsNav and CODE for those who want to use it, but dont make it > compulsory for those who dont. > > >It was US, You and Me, the AS/400 customers that said "IBM, Wake up.
