Jeff,

Validation lists are new objects that are available with V4R1.

You could use the QSYLSTVC API in a 'server' style program. This is a
list-style API.

With a lot of the list type API's I'll create a pgm to behave based on the
parameter passed in, for example;
To create the user space pass in a 'C' to create.
then 'P' to run the routine that will populate the user space with the
entries
then 'R' to retrieve the entries, you can do this repeatedly until all of
the user space entries have been retrieved, You could even create a work
file in the QTEMP to hold these values but if things are changing a lot this
isn't a good idea.
After they are all processed pass in a 'D' to delete the user space and shut
down the program.
Only set on LR if there is a 'D' passed in.

I've created displays that show spooled files, directory entries and other
objects using this method. I have an example of the OBJL0010 format of
QUSLOBJ but its an old RPGIII version. Still it would probably only take an
hour or two to change it to use QSYLSTVC once you did a little research.

Let me know if you would like a copy privately using this address:
meechamw@ptd.net and I'll send a copy to you.

Regards,
Bill Meecham
