Pat,

When presented with this situation, I've usually constructed the select in 
a CL variable and then just used the variable in the query. This has the 
advantage that you have no "or" conditions, and you can set a breakpoint on 
the OPNQRYF command and examine the contents of the select to make sure 
you've got all your quotes and parens coded correctly. I've found it 
relatively straightforward, if such a thing is possible with OPNQRYF, which 
I rarely use these days because of the availability of embedded SQL.
