Apologies to David for this being off topic but I'm so happy I gotta tell
someone!


For all those of you out there with old PCs that won't run the latest
versions of Windoze but are too good to toss there is an alternative to the
complexities of Linux.



Check out this site http://www.newdealinc.com The package including the OS
runs on top of DOS (or various other DOSs)and includes full word processor,
spread sheet, browser etc.  For those who remember it, this is the re-birth
of Geos and GeoWorks a great OS that was one of the casualties of the MS
steamroller.  It ran like greased lightning on my old PS/1 when Windows
crawled.  They will also sell you a "recycled" PC with the OS pre-loaded
from about $99.  One of the objectives is to provide low-cost computing for
schools and others who could otherwise not afford it.



Nice idea and just what I need to resurrect my old laptop for the kids
schoolwork - its hard drive is too small for Linux even if they could
handle that.
