What would it take to convince David@midrange.com to move the Midrange-L list server to an AS/400? (Or is he already on an AS/400? (Hey, if Microsoft eats its own cooking . . ., we can too!) Eric Lehti See www.Stalker.com notes below Mailing Lists and More -- it has bothered me from day one that IGNITe/400 started out as a mailing list run on a PC! Up until April 30, 2000 IGNITe/400 was running its mailing list using ARROW, a PC based list server that used the IBM SMTP server to send mail. As tends to be the case, the list was not as reliable as a native AS/400 based solution. We looked at one AS/400 based solution, but it lacked the features we needed like complete mail based subscribe/unsubscribe support and the ability to support daily, weekly, or monthly digests (lists of messages stored and transmitted as one message) instead of the full feed that some of our list members had come to prefer. We were extremely disappointed with ARROW when the vendor upgraded the product and the archive manager we had been using ceased to function. CommuniGate provides a listserver as an integral part of the product. YUP, its built-in. It is every bit as powerful as the infamous UNIX based MajorDomo listserver! CommuniGate Pro can do anything you can possibly imagine that a list server could and should do plus more! -----Original Message----- From: Leslie Russell [mailto:leslier@datrek.com] Sent: Thursday, July 06, 2000 3:23 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: Re: Listserv software for the AS/400 The software Ignite/400 uses is called Communigate Pro and I think the web site is www.stalker.com >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Original Message <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< On 7/6/00, 2:09:26 PM, "Murphy, Guy" <murphy@uif.uillinois.edu> wrote regarding Listserv software for the AS/400: > Does anyone know of any company that makes a listserv product for > the AS/400? > Guy Murphy - murphyfa@uiuc.edu > FACTS system - University of Illinois > 217-333-8670 > http://www.heisercoaching.com > +--- > | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! > | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. > | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. > | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. > | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com > +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
