Bob, It's multi format not like a multi format logical, but in respect that based upon the contents of position 6 of the SRCDTA field, you must determine which, of many, fixed formats would be appropriate to map the remaining data. That's why I called it a multi format flat file. And even given that, some specs (like "I" and "O") have different pertinent contents and validation rules based upon the presence or absence of one of the variables.
