Have you started this command 'Start TCP/IP Server' STRTCPSVR *SMTP ?

Subject: sending files with SMTP

We would like to send files by email using SMTP. Our email has to go thru a
Cisco router via an ethernet line to an offsite server. The name of the
server is 'OAK.INTRA.STATE.MO.US'. It's IP address is 10.241.26.5. We don't
use Officevision (it was installed but now it's disabled or at least parts
of it is). We use MS Outlook as our mailing system. We're V4R3.

I'm using the IBM Technical document named 'Setting up SMTP (TCP/IP) Mail'.
We use IMAP.

1. I've defined myself in the system directory with my userid and
address and I'm locally defined.
USERID = MARYKO Address = APPN
2. I've got a SMTP name which is my email address.
       email= Mary_Koetting@mail.mchcp.org
3. I've got the offsite server as my mail router in the SMTP
attributes. It looks like: 'OAK.INTRA.STATE.MO.US', no firewall. (CHGSMTPA)
4. I've added 'internet gateway' as a userid and address in the system
directory with a sysname = internet. (ADDDIRE)
5. I've got the SMTP route attribute set to 'internet gateway'.
(CHGDSTA)
6. I've got the internet address (10.241.26.5) of the state server
(OAK.INTRA.STATE.MO.US) as a TCP/IP host table entry.
7. All the jobs that are supposed to come up in QSYSWRK do.
8. I've stopped and started the SMTP server.
9. I've looked at port 25 and it looks to be 'listening' and it is
assigned as a SMTP server.
10. I've looked at the TCP/IP Domain and the host name = AS400, the domain
name=MCHCP.ORG and the correct IP address is listed for the offsite server.
And this address is listed in the TCPIP table.
11. QSMTPQ distribution queue type RPDS pointed to remote location name of
entry of TCPIPLOC.
12. Routing entry of TCPIP is pointing at QSMTPQ distribution queue.
13. SMTP attributes has system name of TCPIP.
14. QSNADS subsystems is started .

As a test, I'm trying to send myself a message. The CL executes the SNDDST
and the message gets logged with no errors but I do not receive a message
back thru Outlook. The CL follows. I know very little about any of
this...just following the document or what I've been told or can find.

The preferred address on the directory entry for the INTERNET user is
supposed to be NETUSRID *IBM ATCONTXT. Maybe I need to set up a network
userid for NETUSRID?

What interfaces/entries have to be in place for the 400 to recognize an
offsite server? I can ping the server from a DOS session but I can't from an
400 session. As you can see I'm plenty lost. Any information is much
appreciated.

***********************************************
   SNDDST TYPE(*LMSG) TOUSRID((MARYKO APPN)) +
                TOINTNET((Mary_Koetting@mail.mchcp.org)) +
                DSTD('TEST MESSAGE') LONGMSG('TEST +
                MESSAGE') CFMDEL(*YES) SUBJECT('Members +
                for Current Month')
