Cyndi,

Why don't you just serve the pages that need AS/400 data from the AS/400?
Entire problem is eliminated.

And yes, you can have a mix. Use the NT based web server (call it
www.mycompany.com ) handle static pages & data from the NT world. Then call
your AS/400 something like notnt.mycompany.com . Then on the hyper link,
specify this and the page will come from the /400. Of course, you will have
to set up the HTTP server on the /400. But then you can do this from RPG or
use Net.Data (sort of like ASP pages).

Makes the whole thing much similar IMHO.

Bob

Subject: Socket Question

Help please. I am reading the Sorcerer's guide to RPG IV, and have uploaded
the code for sockets. Hurray ! it works ! Now translate into real world.

We have VBScript .asp pages running on an NT web server. They connect using
ODBC and are very slow. We would like to use the socket concept because it
would put the processing back onto the AS/400 and only have the serving on
NT.

My question is: I have several logicals set up for the inquiry programs from
the web, but they all will request data from several different files over
the course of one page. Do I need a different socket server program for each
file?

If there is another book that explains this, please direct me.

Another programmer is figuring out how to connect using sockets with VB. If
anyone has any book links on this subject, we would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Cyndi B
