Guess the good news is that my machine was NOT infected. The bad news is
that I still ended up propagating it.

I have my msie/outlook configed to not trust anybody for anything. So when
I opened the original email, it got a warning about unsafe activex
control...which is what prompted my post. But, outlook evidently included
everything when I replied.

The strange thing is that my NT Norton (definitions as of 6/5/00) never did
trigger.

Bob

Subject: Virus alert

I received an item from MIDRANGE-L entitled:

OPNQRYF - duplicate field name error
Dated: Wed, 14 Jun 2000 15:13:28 -0700

with an HTML version attached. My Norton NT antivirus checker kicked it
out as having a nasty in the HTML. I removed it from Norton's "quarantine"
and viewed it. Norton may well be right - it has a *LOT of script stuff in
it after the (usual) repeat of the plain text and it looks specific for
Microsoft/Intel-based systems.

Careful - if you open it in an E-mail client that automatically uses the
HTML version of the file you may get *HURT.

Dave.
