Client Access Version 3.1

I have a client who has a pc with Windows 3.1 still.  They would like to
install Client Access on it.  I have two questions:

1) Will the earlier version of Client access (3.1) work with Windows 3.1
without patches?

2) In order for them to use the 3.1 version of Client Access, does the
Client Access version on the AS400 matter?  If they have a    
    later version of Client Access/400, are there any backward compatible to
3.1.  I.E.  is 3R2 of CA/400 compatible with 3.1? Or '
    must they have CA/400 V3R1?
