Our e-mail server went "south" about the time I sent this so here is another
attempt. It showed up in the archives but I need to rephrase what I'm
asking so here is my question again.

V4R4M0 & fairy current on "all" the various individual, group, & cume ptf's.

About a week ago I posed the question about converting Query/400 queries to
the QMQRY format. Simon, Dan, Vanja, & others supplied some good advice.

I created a CL program to do the RTVQMQRY, RTVQMFORM, CRTQMQRY, & CRTQMFORM.
This process worked in roughly 98% of the conversion & actually did a good
job.

The one thing I have found so far is that Query/400 would let you edit a
numeric defined field as a date field. Anybody that runs 6.0.02 BPCS knows
how dates are defined. This did not convert via the RTVQMxxxx commands. When
I edit this QMQRY, it lets me define the numeric field as a date field. When
the query is run, an error occurs that tells me I have an invalid edit code
for a numeric field & I sure do. The two QM manuals don't address this
capability (flaw) that Query/400 allowed. The one thing that might
complicate things is that this "date" field is also a "break" field?

The one thought I had was to create a "new" table. The book says (& I
quote), "The only way to change the definition of an existing table is to
copy it.----When you copy the table, you can copy, delete, & add columns, &
change definitions in the same way as if you were creating a new table." It
seems my only recourse is to create a copy of the table (LLH), redefine the
data field to a date data type, & run the QMQRY from this table.

Is there something I am missing????? Thanks for your input.
