Assuming that your are printing landscape on an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper, 
15cpi times 11" = 165 print positions
(OK, I can't explain why you see 172 characters..... unless your paper is 11.5" 
?)

Isn't their a 17.5cpi or a 17.3cpi setting that will allow you to print 198 
characters???
