email API... to and CC:the same.. -- MIDRANGE-L

I was playing around with the email API.  I emailed something and used the
same address in the TO: location as in the CC: and BCC: location. 

I only received one copy.  Should I receive only one, or should I receive 3?
Does the mail server maybe look at these addressess and try an consolodate?
If I use different addresses on all three it works find and sends to each.

Just wondering if anyone knew..
