Interactive jobs run in the *INTERACT pool and QBATCH jobs run in *SHRPOOL1. Subsystem monitor jobs and system server jobs run in *BASE. Print Spoolers run in pool *SPOOL >my guess is that you have some CPU intensive jobs that are eating machine >cycles for their entire timeslice and then coming back for more Total CPU averages less that 20% on my 730 8 way system. Interactive is only using 5% CPU on average. During these periodic slowdowns CPU utilization remains low and disk arm utilization remains low. I believe that I might have a seize/lock issue and I'm exploring that possibility now by running Performance Monitor system traces and waiting for slowdown events to occur. I've been able to capture some data and have notice a few lock conflicts, but it doesn't look pervasive enough to result in a tripling of host response times for all 200+ interactive users of the system. Thank you for you thoughts though. Kenneth **************************************** Kenneth E.
