David, Many handheld scanners use a wedge in a 5250 terminal to communicate with the AS/400, but this type of setup is going the way of the dinosaur. Direct connections are replacing this type of set up. We support this type of set up in our Alliance SerialConnect product (http://www.patownsend.com).
