RE: Internet News Groups

At least one of the sites mentioned that some of the servers might be
accessible only through oversight of the administrator.  Many ISPs don't
allow connection to their news server unless you're signed on through the
ISP.  It's a bandwidth/security deal.  I can't use my home ISP's news server
from work even though I have a a valid userid and password.  I know I've
tried some of the links from these sites and was refused connection. I think
they noticed excessive traffic and did something about it.  Some of them are
actually open.

I probably should have said that using some of the servers was ethically
grey.
