There are 3rd party packages for MSG to groups of people outside, such as e-mail. We send break messages to "groups" & ordinary messages to "groups" & we have approx 50 users & those Q-names that show up in lists of user-names & user-groups that we have added for some security functions. From Command Line GO ASSIST Option 4 is ability to send a variety of messages - break and/or reply requested, with F4 on who to get the message to select one user or a group of users from list of all profiles on the system. We figured out with help from a forum like this one what API it is that does that so we could put it in a CL off a menu so that everyone can do it without granting command line authority. We changed the text descriptions on user profiles so that when you do F4 on users in this message to anyone area ... you get a nice chart lined up for ease of locating who all is in what department etc. Real Name of User ... we let people have user-id handles like PRODIGY GURU GENIUS EXPERT WIZARD PROFESSOR G_MAN SALES BOSS but most use initials (less keying to sign on) Department they are in Project teams they on Phone extension # Facility Location or Building Work Station ID where they usually hang out This makes it real easy to send a message to everyone on the same project, in the same department, in the same facility, etc. ... you just go down the chart & put a one at the front of the line to select that individual to get the message > Subj: Messaging: > From: mpatee@abm.com (Matt Patee) > > Is there a way to send a message to a particular group? What I am trying to > accomplish is sending a break message via the 400 (V4R4) > that should not go to > everyone. I do not want to specify each individual, there is close to fifty > people.
