Chester - 

I have used NFS on the AS/400. It works just fine if you don't push it to
hard. 

It is easily configured via the Operations Navigator interface.

My AS/400 Connections
   Network
     Servers
       TCP/IP

The server name is NFS. You can Right Click on the NFS ICON and set up the
properties and define NFS Exports.

Does anybody know a way to put files on the RS6000 that are on the AS400 so
that they may be updated at the same time. This is called NFS mounting. If
