One consideration: how current does the data they access need to be? On the NT, you could install Domino and use it as your http server. You could then write LotusScript agents to build and display pages with the data coming either from the AS400 (via ODBC, or perhaps some of the APIs) or from Notes databases (with the data having been imported from the AS400). If you have some familiarity with VisualBasic, you should be able to handle LotusScript easily enough; if not, there are lots of examples in the documentation. The Iris web site (http://notes.net) has a very busy forum, and many of the Notes developers answer questions on there regularly. If I'm not mistaken, all of the ODBC in Notes will make an SQL call to rerieve the data that it needs, which means it's gonna be slow. Also, I think that the Notes command to make the ODBC connection does indeed require a user profile which has access to the data - but doesn't every ODBC connection? Too bad you can't talk them into getting one of the dedicated Domino e-machines. We are looking at allowing customers access to their accounts. The decision has already been made to host a WWW site on an NT server... (What can I say? ... They don't want to use the AS/400) but, all the customer information resides on our AS/400. Would it be a relatively straight forward process to access the AS/400 data from the NT WWW server? Would the Web Developer use SQL calls? ODBC? something else? Would a special user profile have to be defined to allow this kind of access? Would it be a very good idea to implement security via "Exit Program Registration" on the AS/400? Would it make more sense to replicate a subset of data to the NT WWW server and synchronize it on a regular basis, in other words, don't allow direct access to the AS/400 database server? Any thing else I need to think about? Kenneth **************************************** Kenneth E.
