In addition to the problems with converting the WSU program(s) over to a supported language (which means you'll need to understand its internal workstation cycle, which is somewhat like the RPG cycle but different) you'll also need to convert the data. WSU is driven with a transaction file that contains multi-format record files, which is the one form of S/36 file data that DB2/400 never managed to support properly... Janet Krueger D H Andrews (Sometimes I think I'm getting old when I not only remember helping with the design of WSU back in System/34 days, but I also smile and look at the subject line and think how nice it is to see that people still remember how to pronounce the old acronym!) Maybe I am reading this wrong, but was your response to the client ethical? Work Station Utility was a program on the S/36 to generate a quasi RPG program. The code looked weird. Specs were all mixed around. You could get an app up pretty quickly though. The program generated was WSU though, not RPG. Best be doing some research on that. You might have to do a rewrite to get it to the 400. Gotta get going, or I'd point you to some RTM links. Best of luck! At a potential new client, they mentioned that in addition to applications on the AS/400, they have a little itty bitty app on the S/36, and that they use WSU. I said, no problem, I've heard of that, but now, What the heck was/is WSU? +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
