Excerpts from midrange-l: 23-Mar'00 C++ compiler for AS/400? Jon.Paris@halinfo.it (596*) > >> Rochester produced ILE C > Not true > The only compilers produced by Rochester are CL (which is a kinda sorta compiler) and Java. IKTAN, but actually the Java compiler on the AS/400 (taking Java source code into Java bytecodes/classfile) is the same Sun "javac" compiler shipped with the JDK. Interestingly, the compiler itself is written in Java, so it's the classic "bootstrap" testcase. Now, we do have a Java "transformer" that converts the bytecodes to AS/400 native code, and we have a great JIT we've ported that came out of the research division. -blair +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
