The first thing to do when dealing with an ODBC performance issue is to
make sure you're using the latest service pack for the most recent version
of Client Access; tremendous improvements have been made in the last
several years. For information on what the latest service pack levels are,
look at the following web page:

http://www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess/casp.htm

You'll also find a number of tips related to performance tuning of ODBC on
the following two sites:

http://www.as400.ibm.com/developer/client/index.html
http://www.as400.ibm.com/clientaccess/cadev.htm

Hopefully some of that information will help!

Subject: Client Access ODBC

We are having trouble with a web server using Client Access ODBC.
Currently the performance is much slower than calls using the same
interface to Oracle. Also, occasionally the whole server stops wit a
dialog box from Client Access referencing COMM RC=0x17. We are using
Client Access V3R2. I suggested trying to run the Client Access ODBC
driver as a service under NT. Any other suggestions? Would we have
better results with Client Access Express?
