Why would you WANT to use ADSM to backup your AS/400? It will just make a recovery a whole lot harder.....
 
BRMS does a great job saving the system. It "shines" during a recovery though. ADSM will just get in the way of an otherwise easy recovery.
 
IMHO, backup your AS/400 directly to your 3590 tape drive with BRMS and leave ADSM to the UNIX systems.
