Dare,

The 01 just refers to the function when you press the
little enter key (not the larger power button). There
is usually a small legend near the panel that tells
you what these numbers mean. 01 is just telling you
what the next IPL will be if you use PWRDWNSYS
RESTART(*YES) IPLSRC(*PANEL), or if you just press the
power button. If you change to 02 (from memory) it
allows you to change these settings.

The B refers to which side of the licenced internal
code you will IPL to. When PTF's are applied
temporarily, they are only applied to B, which is what
you generally run on. You can remove a PTF by IPL'ing
to A, RMVPTF and then IPL back to B. Permanently
applied PTF's are on both A and B.

On some models you will see another letter after the
B, which will either be M or N. This refers to whether
the next IPL will be normal (unattended) or manual
(attended). If you have a model where you don't see
this letter on the LCD screen, then you will have a
green light somewhere close by that will be next to
either normal or manual. (There are other options such
as secure). You generally need the system key to
change this.

Of course you can override these settings with the
PWRDWNSYS command.

Hope that helps
