  • Subject: Question Tape Unit - IBM 9427-210 & cleaning cartridge

Hi Folks !

Have a question about the IBM 9427-210 Tape Unit.

It allows you to load a cleaning cartridge into an "auxiliary" slot and
setup a cleaning schedule in the tape units' configuration.

This is working great EXCEPT for the fact that I am PRETTY sure the
system is no longer issuing "CPF6792 Device TAP01 needs to be cleaned."

I am guessing that the tape unit is intercepting this message, loading
the cleaning cartridge and doing its' thing...

Only problem with this is that these cleaning cartridges have a life
cycle to them and need to be replaced.

I'm wondering HOW this is reported other than an error on using the
cleaning cartridge past it's life (?).

Of course the manuals are of NO help with this !!

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated !!

Anyone else using this drive ???

Chuck
