Well, I've stated my opinion here before that object-oriented
programming should be done using a true object-oriented
language, like Java.  I'm not really a fan of adding OO
extensions to procedural languages since there's always the
temptation to stray outside a true object model for your
application.

Are objects in RPG's future?  Yes, in a way.  We are adding
additional support to make it easier to deal with Java
objects and method.  I don't know if RPG will ever have more
object support beyond that.

What's my preferred dereference operator?  No preference
there - it's all just syntactical sugaring anyways.
