Huh? Well, I was gonna ask if you forgot DLTOBJ, but there's no such command. I could'a sworn there used to be one. Sorry, must be losing my mind. - Dan Bale -----Original Message----- From: Fisher, Don [mailto:DRF@HeiligMeyers.com] Sent: Wednesday, March 08, 2000 2:52 PM To: 'Midrange List' Subject: Generic deletion of an object I am creating a utility that will duplicate any object and handle the various exceptions that may occur when duplicating objects. The one exception that is proving difficult is if the new object already exists and should be deleted. For example, if I'm duplicating an object and the destination library already has that file, but was created earlier than the source object, then the destination object needs to be deleted before the CRTDUPOBJ command can be used. Trouble is, all AS/400 deletion commands are object type specific. I could create a dummy library, move the object to the library and then clear it, but that seems rather clunky to me. I've searched the API books to no avail and we don't have TAATOOL, except what comes in the QUSRTOOL library. Thanks for any help you can provide. Donald R.
