Patrick,
I believe that IBM has a server specifically tuned for Notes.
Just like they have interactive vs batch performance tuned
models.
I agree that they are
claiming this. As they will not
explain how this is done, this strikes me as
closed and
proprietary, or else they are just
lying. (I
understand that they get pissed when I talk about them
lying, but do you remember how V3R1 was "pure
guava"?

My some Albert III still wears the tee-shirt as a sleep shirt. So I
am constantly reminder of that release that could most politely be
referred to as "hanus".

I do not suspect that this performance enhancement (or just pure crock)
will not have any effect on the disk performance/space issues in the
IFS.
I am actively open to criticism on this
point. (If IBM would like to explain how they do this, I
will be happy to retract my, closed/proprietary/crock/or just plain
bullshit comments, but my sense is that some fathead is too stupid to do
this.)

It's incredible how IBM works hard to retain fatheads, and then incents
smart people like Jim Sloan, Wayne Evans, Janet Krueger and David Money
to leave. Keep up the good work IBM, this is why I own your
competitor's stock. If you do own IBM stock, when Lou quits, sell
your stock, and sell it short - as there will be nothing left of what
used to be a wonderful corporation! (I know Lou doesn't like when I
say this, but he also doesn't understand the mathematical expression that
400>390. I really hope that before he quits that he sells the
AS/400 Division, because then I will invest heavily, promote the product
properly, and kick the ass out of the remainder of all of the computer
industry including whatever corporation the then dead IBM will
become! [I have formally invited him to visit my office twice, and
both times he very promptly and properly declined my invitation.
Both our offices and homes are less than 10 miles away from each
other.] This is one of the ways that IBM tries to kill the AS/400
constantly. After all, why would they want to promote a product
that makes a huge profit, when they promote Netfinity and RS/6000 which
only lose over a billion dollars a year?)

PS: As this topic has mostly been highly technical in nature, I
have been bcc:ing two IBMers who usually do not monitor this list.
