My understanding of Excel formulas is very limited. However, _if_
I'm
remembering correctly, formula cells do not actually contain data,
do they?
If you've got a formula column, you may need to paste a range of
rows within
a range of columns. If I'm not making sense here, it's because I'm
not that
proficient in Excel and it's been awhile since I've done this. Just
consider it something else to check out.

        Dan,

I'm using Excel 97. The formats look okay now, but I'm still losing
a cell's
        formula.
        Phil

Check out the Paste - Values function in Excel.
Basically, you open your existing spreadsheet that you want
to
"paste" your downloaded data into. Then open the file you just
created on
the download. Copy the full range of cells from your downloaded
data.
Switch over to the "sheet" that has all the formatting set, select a
row
where you want to begin your paste, right-click, and select Paste
Special
(this is Excel '97; might be different in other versions). In the
Paste
Special window, select "Values" and click OK.
I just discovered this about seven months ago. I wish I'd
known
        about it seven years ago!
                HTH,

I'm using RUMBA file transfer to transfer an AS400 file to a
PC. The
target is an EXCEL spreadsheet. The problem that I'm having is that
the
spreadsheet file is overwritten on each transfer, even when I've
stipulated
to add to (not replace) the PC file. When it's overwritten, it
replaces the
spreadsheet column widths with a width of 8.43 for each column.
Does anyone have experience downloading to an existing
spreadsheet,
where the original spreadsheet's column formats do not change?
                TIA
                Phil
