Sudheer, From an OS/400 point of view, an exit point is anywhere an OS/400 program or service program may call (or transfer control) to a user written or user specified program or function. An exit program is the program that is called at an exit point. All exit points have some type of registration mechanism. One of the most obvious registration mechanism is the exit program Registration Facility. See the System API Reference for information about the APIs that make up the Registration Facility. The System API Reference also provides documentation of parameters passed to most of the exit programs that use the Registration Facility. Business partners are allowed to create their own "exit points" in their own products. The WRKREGINF CL command can be used to determine what exit programs are registered to various exit points. Examples of exit programs that are not registered through the Registration Facility are data base trigger programs, command prompt override programs, and message queue break handling programs.
