One thing that would be useful is the facility that is available in DDS to define a field like another field, but a different data type eg in FILEA FIELD1 6A in FILEB FIELD2 S 0 REFFLD(FIELD1 FILEA) This is often handy when you have a field, customer number for example, thats defined as Alpha on one file, and zoned on another. If I could do this in RPG, it would be a great! -----Original Message----- From: boldt@ca.ibm.com [mailto:boldt@ca.ibm.com] Sent: Thursday, February 17, 2000 1:34 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: FW: Random tomh wrote: >Speaking of COBOL - Hans, any thought on COBOL's CORRESPONDING opcode? I understand many COBOL programmers like its MOVE CORRESPONDING statement and miss it when they have to program in RPG. We'll probably add the item to our next "enhancement poll" so we'll see how popular it is relative to other proposals. (We're already thinking of other improvements in the area of data structures.)
