Ron, >Is this a true statement? >Procedures can only be accessed through service programs. False. Procedures can also be defined and used within a single source member -- like a subroutine but with arguments and/or a return value plus advantages like local variables, etc. In fact, I rarely code a subroutine anymore -- in almost every case I prefer a procedure instead. Procedures can also be exported for use when combining multiple modules into a single program. And of course service programs are an excellent way of making procedures available to any ILE program. I group them into related categories: string handling, date handling, etc. Doug +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
