Finding the Version/Release -- MIDRANGE-L

There are a variety of indirect ways to determine the version/release
of a system; but the IBM supported way is to use the Retrieve Product
Information (QSZRTVPR) API.  Call this API giving Product ID *OPSYS,
Release level *CUR, Product option 0000, and Load ID *CODE and you
will get back the Version/Release/Modification level of OS/400.

This API can be found in the Software Product APIs chapter of the
System API Reference.
