yes everything was working. I re installed the 7855 and everything is still OK

Was this line and other modems "working" before the switch or is this a 
new install ???

If you are just switching out modems, they should work fine as long as
you are using the correct phone line to and from modem and you have the
correct dip switch setting.. swt 10=down swt 5=up at one site swt 5=
down
at other site...
