Net.Data is a scripting language used to do web programming on the AS400 and other platforms. You can use it to build tables from AS400 databases, run programs, display web pages, send email, lots of stuff. You use it to build your pages dynamically and HTTP Server to serve the pages. Net.Commerce is a cataloging application that you use to set up an online store. It uses Net.Data to do a lot of its dynamic page-building (a later version will use Java instead). You import your AS400 data into its database, set up different categories, shipping costs, tax amounts, user shopping groups, etc. You _could_ do the same thing yourself (using Net.Data, CGI programs, etc), but it would be a real chore. IBM says it's easy to build a store with it - don't believe it. I am trying to educate myself on what the various IBM web products are, where they fit in, and how they interact with each other (if in fact they do). I am a RTFM kind of person and I have been surfing the IBM web site like crazy, but I have gotten myself a bit confused. Is WebSphere the same product as Net.Commerce? If they're different products, what are the differences? Where does Net.Data fit in? How about MQSeries? What are the differences between Net.Commerce for the AS/400 and Net.Commerce for the non-AS/400 platforms? Any help or directions to where I can get help would be appreciated. Thanks! William K.
