Actually the problem is that IBM wants to push their new printers 
so bad that what they do is jack up the maintenance prices on the old.  
Third party service providers don't base their prices on cost.  They 
base them on IBM list minus X percent.  Therefore the 3rd parties 
lose business instead of trying to gain business that IBM doesn't want.

They tend not to be worth much.  As newer printers with comparable function 
come out, their monthly cost of operations (consumables per sheet) and 
maintenance tends to come down enough to devalue the old printers.
