Ken, Aside from the fact that it appears you've got a bare bones system (unless you copied and pasted one screenful of the installed products inquiry), what are you trying to learn about the AS/400? What is your background? Another IBM midrange? Just PC? Are you a programmer? There's a mammoth amount of information to cover from beginning to end. You might want to start with the "AS/400 Handbook", although most likely one does not exist for a V2R3 box. FYI, you can find most all of IBM's documentation for the AS/400 online; the easiest way to get at it is by going to http://www.news400.com/index400. The earliest handbook they have online is for V3R2 and the direct link for that is http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/cgi-bin/bookmgr/BOOKS/EZ30FL00/CCONTENTS. Even if the "OS/400 - Online Education" were available, you would be wasting your time there; it was a wretched excuse for learning the 400. - Dan Bale -----Original Message----- From: Ken Dunn [mailto:luser@xtra.co.nz] Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2000 9:32 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: where to begin ?
