  • Subject: FW: FTP completion message 226 or 250?

We use ftp to communicate to several IBM mainframes, as well as PC's and
other 400's, and they all seem to be responding with 250's. We are working
with 4.4 as well, so I don't remember, what the completion code was on the
400 at 4.2, but I don't think we changed the ftp tool when we upgraded from
4.2 so I think it was always 250.

Of course, I haven't been wrong yet today, so I'm due (it's 7am) ....

Subject: FTP completion message 226 or 250?

Hi,

I thought the successful file transfer completion message for FTP
on the 400 side was 226. It is currently coming out with a 250 on
V4R4. Which is the same as a number of other messages. I tried
finding an APAR and nothing showed up. I'm using FTP on the 400
side connecting to a PC. Does anyone know if this is an
intentional change? Does that mean the best way to know if the
file transfer is completed successfully is to look in the log for the
word "Successful"?

Thanks for your great input,

Gary Kuznitz
