Although it may be frustrating to think that you have a feature that you can't use you should take comfort in one very simple fact. If they were not able to offer a range of models (and therefore prices) _without_ some form of software and/or hardware slugging then _all_ of the models would cost more. This is not a possibility but a certainty.
