I don't know if this is what you want but we have a library call sources(fuentes in spanish), and our files names are like QARRPG, QARRPGLE, QARCL, ETC. This way, we just have to save or restore the source library who only exist in our development system. If you like this scheme, just rename and move all your sources to the library, you will not loose the dates.
