Yes, you are right, I mean Progeny.

What I had learned I had learned while in a community college.
I was going there from the age of 10 to 16 or so. Boy, was I
lucky they let a snot nosed kid mess with their computers <g>

That is what everyone was talking about in that day (70's) and
how the concept of generation of languages was thought of.

The Generation of languages is a very abstract concept, and it
seems that the concept has changed over the years from it's
original conception. Now, it seems the generation of languages
is a lot more arbitrary than it used to be. It used to be a simple
though, as I had stated, about languages improving with time
though a process of (un)natural selection.

The conecpt of generations of langauges did not really apply
to specific langauges, but to all langauges over time. Such as
OOPs, which I consider the 3rd generation, is applied to most
languages.

It seems now, however, that it is thought that each langauge
has it's own generation from other langauges, which used to
be thought of in concepts of higher .vs. lower level langauges.

There is not a URL I can give you, since I have not come
across one. It's all up here in my nogin from what everyone
at the time was saying.

Regards,

Jim Langston
