As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Folks:

Sorry for the downtime today ... the power company decided it was a good
day to do something or the other and deprived us of electricity for
the morning.  Because I have a day job, I was unable to get the system
back up and running until this evening (later than I thought, because
I had a flat at work also).

The system is back  up and chewing on the backlog as I type.
