If you started the writer with STRPRTWTR DEV(PRT01) OUTQ(PRT01) WTR(*DEV),
you can then issue the command CHGWTR WTR(PRT01) OUTQ(PRT02). The default
value for the option of when to make this change effective is *NORDYF, which
will change the write to print from queue PRT02 when there are no more spool
files at ready status in PRT01. You could set this to *FILEEND to switch
when the current file completes, even if there are others in the PRT01
queue.

        Hi John,

HOW ? :-) All that will let me do is move the writer that is
printing on PRT01 to
        PRT02 and then it's not on PRT01 anymore (?)...

This is driving me NUTS because I KNOW I did it earlier this year,
we were on
V4R1 then and we are now, and I can't for the LIFE of me remember
what I did but
it seemed like it was something SIMPLE !!! ARGHHHHH <BG>
