Michele, In response to your question about overwriting a previous backup, you need to investigate the ENDOPT parameter for the respective SAVxxx command that you are using. By specifying ENDOPT(*LEAVE) on your first backup, and ENDOPT(*REWIND) on your last backup, you will avoid overwriting the first backup on the tape. Another solution to your problem that you may want to look into is the "Save While Active" feature. You can specify this as a parameter option on the SAV command that backs-up your IFS directories. The parameter name is SAVACT.
