From your question, it seems that you want to know how to delete the
journal, but the *GEN option is only required to create new receivers so
that you can delete the old receivers.


Turn off the audit function with the system values. Delete the journal.
Delete the receiver.

If it is just the receivers, then CHGJRN *GEN and delete the old receiver.

I don't recall, but there may be some restriction between the time you turn
off the function with the system values and the time you delete the journal,
but I have only done this with an IPL in the middle. In other words, I
usually turn it off, wait a day, IPL then delete the journal and receivers.

But then I wear a belt and suspenders....
