  • Subject: PPP into ECS "port"??

This is a direct "cut" from a Tech Tip from News/400:
"When using PPP to dial in, you can optionally dial directly into the Electronic
Customer Support (ECS) port" by Carole Miner, IBM senior software engineer

Can I dial into my ECS modem using PPP via CA Express from a PC? All the
documentation
and supportline info I can find on this states that I need a 2699, 2720 or 2721
PCI
adapter card in my 170. I only have the one that came in it, a 2745 (according
to
wrkhdwrsc). Either I don't understand the statement above, or this conflicts
with the
info I can gather.

I am waiting for a DSL line to be connected up, but need dial-up capability
much sooner
than they'll run the lines (4-6 weeks, and I need a dial-in next week).

I appreciate any help with this, otherwise I'll have to purchase the card and
only use
it for a few weeks.....

Thanks.
