Yeah, there's an API to change a user's password. I can't remember what it is though, but it definitely does exist. Reason I know is because I was once given a project to write a web page on the AS/400 to allow someone to change their password. Not real secure as the unencrypted password is going over the wire, but it worked. That was at another company, though, and I no longer have access to the code.
