When we were first started using the AS/400 in the Lab we were still doing some
S/38 work. I got so fed up with exiting when I didn't want to, I placed a small
"ring" of cardboard around the F3 key that extended about half an inch above the
key top. After a few times of ramming this between my nail and finger (painful)
I learned not to hit the key.

You might want to try this - but of course it will affect your use of the F3 key
as well!

Thought - if you are using a PC emulator, why not remap the key!  It will cause
you grief in other apps of course <g>
