Anyone know of a way of having a local tape unit attached to a remote AS/400 that's 4/5 miles away ? One possible option for disaster recovery planning is to have your own hot-site. We have a development AS/400 system for our programming staff, and could move that system to another location. But, our development staff would need to some how load application test data and software. This other site would be un-manned. We also don't want to have the tape unit transferring GB's of data over our normal LAN network, affecting user online performance. Looking for some solution (i.e. fiber, T1, Sonnet, wireless, cable television ... etc) that extends a SCSI connection from an AS/400 to a 3570 magstar. I guess a limitation would be that we probably wouldn't be able to afford to install and maintain our own fibre equipment. So we would use a service from a telephone or communications vendor instead. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
