Use the /Home directory for dos non-case sensitive applications. IBM supplied the QOpenSys file system to be compatible with case sensitive systems. -----Original Message----- From: Gary Kuznitz [mailto:docfxit@calwest.net] Sent: Tuesday, November 16, 1999 10:14 AM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: RE: How to pass parms to Perl Now now boys. Let's keep it light. :-) I really appreciate everyone catching the case sensitive parameter names. I discovered in V4R2 the file name had to match but the directory name didn't. It worked fine. Since I am in the middle of working out the bugs in this application when I switched to V4R4 it didn't occur to me (while trying to resolve other problems) that the case sensitive issue would come up again. Sure would be nice if IBM would default the directory name "QOpenSys" to "QOPENSYS" so it would be less likely for people to spend time on figuring out the case sensitivity issue. It would also be nice if case sensitivity was mentioned as a suggestion in the error message. Of course this would all go away if it wasn't case sensitive in the first place. I'm wondering if there is some rule from ancient times that dictates this has to be case sensitive or if it was a programmers oversite/time constraint that is now making everyone know "one more rule" so the AS/400 is just a little less user friendly. I wonder if anyone at IBM has ever thought of leaning some of the priority more towards making the 400 more user friendly? Any ways, I'll try this out later today and see if it solves the problem.
